There is a popular idiom in English – ‘separating wheat from chaff’. Professor Rao’s book is executing just this. The author is clearly honest, straightforward and has presented all evidences and documentation to support every argument. Astrology is finely meshed and woven in this book – it even has the rectified chart of Emperor Akbar therein! Charts are presented in North Indian as well as South Indian format (the author uses the latter type in his work, as I know). However, it is a delight for astrologer as well as western tourist who would like to get bare and dare truths about India’s spiritual image. Personally, I found the chapter ‘astrologer cheat’ most fascinating. Chapter ‘During the British Indian Days’ was appreciated by my father a lot for its eye-opening details. Authentic episodes on Lord Krishna and Guru Nanak ji cannot be left unread. In brief, I suggest this book on shelf of anybody wanting to know India’s soul. Should be read by a tourist in India before he or shelves thousands of dollars to a pseudo-guru or fake healer!
